Ercolano
The ruins of Ercolano, more important of the near Pompei and Torre Annunziata, are always fix appointment for thousands of tourists during the year. Also the modern city is interesting, the Corso, Corso Resina which connects Ercolano to Naples was apart named Miglio d’Oro for presence of relevant architectural operas: Vesuvian Villas (some restructed by famous sculptors or architects such as Vanvitelli), Villa Aprile (today the luxury hotel Miglio d’Oro), Villa Battisti, Villa and Parc of Favorita and Villa Campolieto, area of cultural events, concerts.

 

Amalfi
It’s foundation is Roman. Very important in the history of the city, still existing, is the paper factory, where is produced the important Amalfi Paper. Monument of interest: The Duomo, Coister of Paradise, Paper Museum, Civic Museum, Diocesan Museum, Valle of Mulini.

 

Pompei
Is ancient as Rome. In area of the ruins has been brought to life the Ancient Roman city destroyed tragically with the eruption of the Volcano Vesuvius in 79 AD. Important person was Bartolo Longo proclaimed Saint on 26 October 1980 by Pope John Paul II. For his volontee was erected the Sanctuary of the Vergin of Rosary in Pompei.



Sorrento
It’s a town of 17,000 inhabitants on the coast of the Sorrento Peninsula in the province of Naples. Situated in the south part of the Gulf of Naples. The legend says thet the name derives from the sirens half woman half fish, that called the sailor against the rocks. There is the Duomo, rebuilt in XV century, the Church of S.Francis with a cloister of 1300. The local economy is based on tourism, agriculture and marquetry.


Vesuvio
It’s a particulary interesting volcano. It’s a beautiful look in the panorama of the gulf specially if  seem from the sea with the city in the background. Very interesting in the part of Vesuvius which can be visited.



Ravello
It’s a town of 2506 inhabitants in the province of Salerno, in the Amalfi Coast. It’s situated on a small will between Maiori and Minori with a beautiful view of the Gulf of Salerno which enchanted Richard Wagner. Half of it’s visitors are English and Americans attracted by 2 famous villas (Villa Cimbrone with is beautiful view from the Infinito Terrace). The town has international importance and togheter with Maiori appears in many film of Rossellini.

 

Capri
The isle of Capri situated in the Gulf of Naples between the Sorrento Peninsula, Capo Miseno, Ischia and Procida. There are 2 different towns Capri e Anacapri.

 



Ischia
Well developed since the end of 1950 thanks to tourism industry  important not only for natural beautiful but also for the noumerous thermal baths.

 



Positano
It’s town of 3682 inhabitants in the province of Salerno, part of the Amalfi Coast. The principal beaches are Spiaggia Grande and Fornillo both reachable on foot. The others are La Porta, Arienzo, S.Pietro. All reachable by sea.

 



Caserta
Is a City with 80,000 inhabitants. The city has many fractions in wich San Leucio famous for silk and the Real Belvedere, and the medieval Ancient Caserta. Very interesting is the Royal Palace with its beautiful gardens. In Piazza S.M. del Lauro there the bus stop to Caserta.



Paestum
Is situated in Campania in the town of Capaccio-Paestum in the province of Salerno about 40 Km from it (92 South of  Naples). His situated in the ‘Piana del Sele’, near the sea, in the Gulf of Salerno. Paestum offers important architectural monuments of Greek and Roman period.



Campi Flegrei-Solfatara
The Campi Flegrei-Solfatara are a vast area of vulcanic origin situated north-west of Naples. The word ‘Flegrei’ comes from Greek ‘Flego’ that means ‘burn’. In the area still today we have 24 craters some of which have gas manifestations (Arca of Solfatara) or hydrothermal 8in Agnano, Pozzuoli, Lucrino).



Baia
Baia (ancient Baiae), is a fraction of the town of Bacoli in the province of Naples, in the Arca of Capi Flegrei. He’s beautiful Gulf between Punta Lanterna at south (on wich we have the Aragonese Castle) and Punta Epitaffio at north is an ancient volcanic crater dated 8400 years ago remains only for half, as the west part has been ruined by the sea.



Certosa di Padula
Known also as Certosa di San Lorenzo is among the biggest and famous charterhouses existing in Italy and is in the Cilento Area. It’s part of UNESCO. The Monastery is second for siec after the Certosa di Parma. Was founded by Tommaso San Severino in 1306 on a previous one dedicated to S.Lorenzo.


Oplonti
It’s a Roman city in Campania, correspondent to the actual Torre Annunziata. The ruins of Oplonti, started in the years 60, have brought to light a luxury villa considered by archeologists as the summer residence of the Emperior Poppea, wife of Nerone. Built in I Sec. D.C. is orned of Beautiful paintings and frescous.
